Worship

At Oak Park Baptist Church we desire to participate in corporate worship through the reading of God’s Word (1 Tim 4:13), the preaching of God’s Word (2 Tim 4:2), the singing of God’s Word (Psalm 95), the praying of God’s Word (Col 4:2), giving cheerfully to the Lord and through Communion and Baptism (Acts 2:42). These are tangible ways that we worship corporately as we prescribed in Scripture.

Our Worship is not about the style of music, the instruments we use, who is on the stage, or the delivery of the sermon. Rather, it’s a matter of the heart. It is God who sees the authenticity of one’s heart in worship. Therefore, we strive to create a time of Christ-Centered worship that directs the heart and mind of those worshipping toward God.

Worship through music at Oak Park is deliberately mixed to reflect the diverse age groups and backgrounds reflected in the family at Oak Park. Each service songs are picked to be gospel-centered and theologically rich, as well as singable and relatable to the family at Oak Park. We lead with a variety of instruments and styles both old and new and seek to incorporate the full range of emotions involved in the Christian life from sorrow to joy and awe to exuberance. Our musical style is generally similar in breadth and diversity to ministries like Sovereign Grace MusicKeith and Kristyn Getty, and Matt Boswell.

The Worship Team seeks to use their gifts to lead the church family of Oak Park in gospel-saturated biblically informed worship. Worship is led by a variety of leaders under the oversight of Pastor Chris. Volunteers are welcome on all instruments and voice parts as well as in the technical and production areas.
